Set personal goals
Not many of us actually sit down and invest some time in setting personal goals for ourselves, Some may even feel goals are for businesses, sports teams, social clubs, or big organizations. Managing our lives and having some method of providing focus for our dreams is equally important in our lives.
We need goals in all areas of our life for example; relationships, health, spiritual well being, job, and even personal development. This is just a sample of some of the areas of our lives we may have dreams in so it is easy to see how we can easily get overwhelmed trying to accomplishing them all. This is the main reason we need to invest some time in setting our goals in each area.
It is important that we invest the time to set these goals and commit them to writing. It will focus our attention on what is important to us and help us to stay focused. There is an old saying that goes something like this; when you are up to your buns in alligators it is hard to remember your prime objective was to drain the swamp.
One way to keep all your goals straight is to use a mind map. You can google mind maps and find many resources for mind maps. One I found helpful was http://wisemapping.com. If you do not want to learn a new tool or get fancy I find that the old fashioned outline works just fine. Here is an example for you:

Set prioritiesIf you want to be successful you will need to breakdown your goals into manageable chunks, You may start by selecting one goal in each area of your life you seek to improve. Trying to do everything at the same time is going to not only frustrate you immensely, it is also going to send you in a dozen different directions. This is not a good way of managing anything let alone something as important as your life. I would like to suggest that you go over your mind map or outline or whatever tool you choose and prioritize your list by what you consider most important in your life at the current time. You may for example select a an item you wish to improve from three or four areas of your life and work on those first. This will help you to stay focused on what is important to you and keep you from getting distracted or feeling stressed. I personally use the outline form and do it on my mobile “to do list” and it helps me to keep track of my progress at the same time. When I get one area under control and feel comfortable with my progress I start working on the next one.
I enjoy blogging as it helps me share things I am learning in my personal development with others. I generally send my post out to my subscribers if I feel it will benefit them in some way and will occasionally post it on Facebook.
