2 Lessons I Learned From “The Richest Man In Babylon” By George S. Clason

Have you figured out why success in your online marketing has eluded you?? Did you ever consider that the main reason you have not found it is because you have yet to truly seek it?? Many people are sitting on the wall as was Bansir a chariot builder in Babylon in one of the stories in George S. Clason’s book “The Richest Man in Babylon”. Bansir was sitting on a wall wondering why he had not achieved wealth in his life. He was so stymied by these thoughts he could not even focus on his mainstay of building chariots. Perhaps it was simply he had not sought advice on accumulation of wealth. By the way the picture is me in Babylon in 2004, amazing experience.

  1. Do not be above seeking advice for your online marketing business. In the story Bansir’s best friend Kobbi shows up and finds him sitting on the wall. Both of these men were as they say “in the same boat” when it came to their status financially. In the ensuing conversation Bansir comes to the realization that perhaps the main reason they never found any measure of wealth was because they never sought it. They had succeeded in their endeavors to become a chariot maker and lyre player respectively but not in any type of accumulation of wealth. It was this new insight that led them to seek Arkad whom they considered to be the richest man in Babylon. I like their logic; who better to ask? Here is a take away for you if you have read this far. It is OK to be humble and seek advice from others in the online marketing community especially those that are experiencing the type of success you are seeking. You may even be amazed at the willingness of successful individuals to provide you advice. It does not end with asking for advice you will need to heed it as well. Advice is so often free yet few actually request it. If the “free” part bothers you then pay for it. Regardless of how you get it your online marketing business will benefit from it.
  2. I can not over emphasize the importance of study in your online marketing business. You should not consider your business as different than any other vocation you may choose to get proficient will require studying to a great degree. When it comes to study and learning there are two types of learning. The first kind being the things we already learned and knew the other is found in the training that teaches us how to find and learn that which we do not know.
In the online marketing arena especially if you are new you tend to learn the mechanics of the opportunity and even get proficient at creating all the things you need to actually get your business up and running online. This is where most of you end up like Bansir just sitting on the wall wondering why success doesn’t come. The second type of learning escapes us and we fail to use our training to seek that which we do not know. We should not solely rely on academic resources to find this knowledge we seek. This may be the time to actually seek advice from your peers or your mentors in your vocation. Who better to ask this advice from other than someone who is immensely successful in that which you seek??

Your mentors blog is a great place to learn their secrets for success as are any webinars or events they may host. I’m trying to get my blog to rank for some targeted keywords but I’m not seeing very good
