Using Powerpoint in Your Marketing Online BusinessI was creating a landing page for my business and wanted to incorporate a video of my computer screen as I was explaining a particular process. You know how you sometimes get this brilliant ideas to do something really cool for your subscribers then you realize you do not have the right resources to accomplish it. This would have been a simple process if I owned Camtasia or a similar software which I did not have. I decided to just do a power point presentation instead.
Now, I had not used power point in quite a few years so I was not sure I could even prepare a descent presentation let alone something I consider professional. Maybe if I just used a few clever transitions, added some images of still screen shots, and a text explanation I could still accomplish my objective. I would still have to learn how to upload it to YouTube as a video but first things first. I opened up my power point and was shocked at how it had changed and with panic setting in I approached it as I approach everything one step at a time.
I quickly scanned the tool bar options and noticed a “mix” button up in the tool bar. I clicked on it to see what extra options that would provide me hoping it would not just confuse me further. Imagine my surprise when I found that one of the items in the “mix” drop down was a screen recording option. All of a sudden panic faded and power point became less intimidating. Technology, you just have to love it.
I quickly completed my screen recording and power point even had an option to export the file to video which just happened to be in a format that is accepted by YouTube. I still plan on investing in Camtasia, but in a pinch power point can be a great alternative for creating screen recordings for your online marketing business. As Theodore Roosevelt once said “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”
